It’s been a rough week. Not in my real life, that’s great. But my seasonal anime watching has hit a snag at episode 9. I’m not sure if this is a common thing but boy, both The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window and Platinum end took a dip this week. At least as far as I’m concerned.
And it’s not like this was the best episode of Visual Prison either but one thing helped it out a lot. Eclipse!

I remember when Visual Prison just started and we saw Eclipse for the first time. I thought to myself: Oh! These are going to be our ultimate antagonists. The stoic and impassive duo of consummate professionals who are not going to let their top spot go without a fight. And of course, the show told us that Ange and his friends are actively trying to dethrone them. It all fit so neatly.
If you had told me then that I would be looking forward to their appearances each episode, I would have scoffed. Scoffed I tell you. But you know what, after an episode where they were pretty much front and center, I think Dimitri might be my favourite character out of the bunch. That guy is a dork, in the best way.
The episode itself did weave in some light tragedy. There’s this thing about Ange’s father who might have been Guil’s very good platonic friend. There’s something about the timing. That seemed to be barely older than Ange is now, when he died. And we know he was spending all his time with Guil then. He had been doing so for years. So when did he have time to make a kid and did he just dip right after? Was this a one-night thing? Ange’s mom had pictures. I’m thinking we shouldn’t look into it too hard.
Oh and Guil’s gonna die. Like any second now. Yeah, they just forgot to tell s before but now we know. don’t mean to sound insensitive but I’m thinking there are like a million ways to get out of it. Although they might also carry on with it and then Ange is going to have two daddies in heaven or wherever it is vampires go. Vampire Heaven? I would so watch an anime about Vampire Heaven. OMG! There is literally a J-drama called that. I swear I didn’t know!
I got very distracted there. I’m still thinking about Vampire Heaven to be perfectly honest. I hope Guil doesn’t die though. I know it could be poetic and he would finally find peace after centuries of restless existence and all that. But that’s not what I watch Visual Prison for. It’s supposed to be fluffy!
So listen up show, this is what’s going to happen. They’re going to hold their concert and everyone is going to put on one heck of a show but OZ will prevail in the end. The other groups will be disappointed but begrudgingly admit that OZ was great. Then without warning, Ange is going to decide that his wish for the scarlet moon will be to cure Guil and everyone will live happily ever after.
And then Ange will grow a mullet just like in Guil’s dreams! That’s the plan!
