It’s a little early for an Easter post but you know what, it’s never too early or too late for anime bunnies. Admittedly these are mostly anime Bunny girls but depending on your point of view, that might actually be better.
I’m not sure what made me think of putting this list together. You know, maybe thinking is not what’s required here…

5. Rumi – My Hero Academia
Rumi is a relatively minor character in My Hero Academia. I mean there are soooo many characters in that show that anyone who isn’t a lead is going to have to fight it out for screen time. Luckily, Rumi has the muscles for it!
I have always liked how Rumi subverts the expected sexy and delicate bunny girl archetype by being this unapologetic badass bound in a tight and enviable mass of pure muscle tissue. Now those are some impressive gains.

4. Kourousagi – Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren’t They?
People don’t talk much about Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren’t They? It was a cute little show. I would have watched more if it was available.
Kourousagi is much more of the classic Bunny girl type. She’s pretty and delicate and a little ditsy. But in this show, that’s actually a great balance for everyone else. And when it really matters, she knows how to pull out all the stops. Seeing Kousouragi finally gets her chance to shine was one of the best moments in the series!

3. Haru- Beastars
Haru gets extra points for being an actual rabbit. Sure she anthropomorphized but Beastars makes it clear that Haru is a rabbit and not a rabbit girl. For some reason, that was important to me when I was putting together this list.
Haru is actually a fantastic little web of contradictions. As a relatively frail and small rabbit surrounded by huge powerful predators, she definitely embodies the vulnerability we’ve come to expect but her mind and personality are definitely not those of prey. She’s strong in her weakness and powerful in her fears. It’s not always a comfortable balance and Haru is a challenging character to like but I have always appreciated a challenge!

2. Momiji – Fruits Baskets
We have to break up the Bunny girl streak a little with our first actual Bunny boy! If you are the one person not familiar with Fruits Basket (don’t worry about it), it’s a story about the Souma family who are cursed by the spirits of the Chinese Zodiac and become said animals when hugged by members of the opposite sex. I know what it sounds like but it’s actually a surprisingly dramatic show.
I doubt I will be blowing anyone’s mind when I reveal that Momiji is cursed by the spirit of the rabbit. And accordingly, he’s a carefree, gentle, and loving boy who tries to always see the best in people and situations. At least on the surface. Those cursed by the Zodiac do not live happy lives after all. But they are mighty cute!

Special Mention – Barnaby Brooks Jr.
Ok, so Barnaby doesn’t fit the criteria of this list at all, but he is…Bunny…

1. Mustard – Hozuki’s Coolheadedness
I don’t talk about Hozuki’s Coolheadedness enough. It’s a great show.
And particularly great is Mustard! Technically, Mustard is also a Bunny girl and the sweetest most gentle little wittle wabbit in hell, as long as you don’t mention Tanuki around her that is! Like a lot of characters in Hozuki, Mustard is actually based in Japanese folklore, or more precisely in Kachi-kachi Yama. I’m not sure what the moral is here aside from don’t mess with rabbits. And I think that’s an important lesson to learn.
Aide from that, you can’t forget Mustard’s well-deserved reputation as the finest torturer currently working in Hell! How could she not make the top of the list?
Not bad huh? Definitely an Easter-worthy list… Easter is about vengeance, right? Believe it or not, I went to a catholic school. I know…
No mention of Rascal Dreams of Bunny Girl Senpai 🙁 Admittedly the bunny aspect of that anime is actually relatively minute but still, great show 😀
And hey, we all love a niche top 5 list right?
I actually haven’t seen Rascal.
Yes, any time is a good time for anime bunnies. They are just as adorable as a real life one, but they don’t shed all over your clothes. Momiji is definitely my favorite bunny person on this list! So cute!
He is adorable
Oh no, I totally forgot about Mustard. How could I?
I suppose, Koto, Buddha-body-borrowing mum from Kyousogiga would make my list?
And zodiac bunnies reminded me of other zodiac shows, like Etotama (who’d bunny I don’t even remember), and Juuni Taisen, who’s a bunny boy who only wants to make friends with everyone in the world. His idea of a friend, though, is someone he killed and ressurected with necromancy. He’s a tad psychotic, but he does wear bunny ears and tail, so that’s okay, right?
You forgot about Mustard…. I dn’t even know where to go from here…
I’m gonna go off the rails a little and put forth Sailor Moon, on the grounds that her name means “Bunny”…
Actually, I thought about adding Sailor Moon as well!
