Guest Post – Fuuto Tantei Review

Posted on November 15, 2022November 13, 2022 by Irina

Today, we have another great guest post in the form of a Fuuto PI review. I haven’t watched the show yet but I’m actually really excited about getting to it! Please enjoy this review by Aniotakuland.

Introduction:

Fuuto Tantei is a detective story with Kamen Riders. It started airing in the Fall Season of 2022 The series starts after the Kamen Rider W action series. This is the sequel to the Kamen Riders W but you don’t need to watch the prequels for it. It is very friendly to newcomers as they don’t need to watch prequels to understand it.

Story:

The story is good. There are three main characters. Hidari Shoutaru is a hard-boiled detective. He works with his partner Philip. They live in a city named Fuuto where they fight for the peace of the city. The main characters are Kamen Riders while they fight dopants. Dopants are humans that transform and gain powers usually used to do evil.

Shoutaru is struggling as he is not getting any clients. Standing near the edge of the city in front of the sea he encounters a beautiful girl. As he is leaving he told the girl that there is no way there. The girl did not reply and continued to walk past Shoutaru. He looked back and the girl disappeared. What was that? Did she teleport?

After a while, a client comes to Shoutaru that a beautiful girl stole his bag and it was the same girl. What is wrong with this girl? What is she doing? Shoutaru spotted the girl again and decided to chase her. While chasing her he noticed that the path they are going is not in Fuuto. Where are they? They both just traveled to another city. A dark version of Fuuto.

The detective becomes a bit confused. It is later revealed that they passed through a portal made by the dopant. The girl joins the detective and then afterward helps his gang to solve mysteries.

Art:

The art in Fuuto PI is nothing special. It is not bad neither it is very good. The animation is smooth for the most part. The camera angles are very good. Studio Kai did a good job of animating it. The colors were a bit dark which is good for a detective story.

The transformation of Kamen Rider was always fun to watch. The animation in the opening and ending songs was very good. Especially, in the ending song.

The fighting in this show is good. The special attacks and powers were beautifully animated. The special powers were always fun to watch. The villains had very good character designs.

Characters:

Hidari Shoutaru:

Hidari Shoutaru is the main detective and one-half of Kamen Rider W. He is a very positive person who helps anyone who comes to him for help. He has a good heart and love for the people of the city.

Philip:

Philip is the second half of Kamen Rider W. He is the mind of the Kamen Rider W. He does most of the thinking. He has an excess to a Gaia Library which has all the information about dopants. He usually comes up with solutions and ideas.

Philip’s character design is really good and he is my favorite character from the series.

Tokime:

Tokime becomes Shoutaru’s assistant after that incident. He helps Shoutaru with his work. She is a good person but has a hard time doing it. She even engages in beef with Philips. She doesn’t know her past, which is a mystery connected with Dark Fuuto.

She is usually used for Fanservice and she is good at it.

Narumi Akiko:

Narumi Akiko is a supporting character. She is Shoutaru’s boss and head of Narumi’s Detective Agency. She gives work to Shoutaru. She is a bit strict but also very cheerful. She helps her crew to chin up in difficult times.

Terui Ryuu:

Ryuu Terui is Kamen Rider Accel. He is a Superintendent appointed to the Fuuto Police Department’s Paranormal Crime Investigation Division and is married to Akiko Narumi.

Music

Music in Fuuto Tantei is not bad neither is it good. The OSTs are not impactful and not rememberable. The opening song is fine while the ending song is a bit better. Still, it is not that good.

Enjoyment

Fuuto Tantei was very enjoyable. From its fights to its mystery this show is really enjoyable. It is mostly a mystery but it always makes you wonder what will happen next.

Overall

Fuuto Tantei is a good show. It definitely worths a shot. Even if you don’t have any prior knowledge about Kamen Rider you can enjoy it and can understand it.

I am planning to write more reviews so if you want to check out you can visit Aniotakuland. Any type of feedback is appreciated. I hope you guys are having a good day. See you guys very very soon.

Sayonara. Bye-Bye

Yes, this was such a good anime! Though I’ve never watched any Kamen Rider series so far, this was very easy to understand and enjoy. In fact, it was so fun to watch, I’m planning on hunting down episodes of the original Kamen Rider W series so I can see where the story started. I’m really curious to see how Shotaro and Philip met and there was a teaser in the first episode of Fuuto PI about Shotaro’s dad, but the anime never explains what happened, so I’m hoping to find more details about that in Kamen Rider W! I really hope the anime has a second season.
