Unquestionably, anime has evolved, and 2022 is shaping up to be a watershed year for the industry. Returning fan favorites and the emergence of promising newcomers make it more difficult than ever to narrow down a “must-watch” list. In addition, simulcasts make it easier to keep up with Japan’s simultaneous premieres of new anime, so the possibilities are truly endless. To help you narrow down your options, we’ve selected a handful of must-watch anime so far this year.
Shenmue the Animation
This anime adaptation of the first two games in the renowned video game series brings the games’ story to life in a fresh and exciting way. Shenmue the Animation delves deeper into the plot while maintaining a consistent connection to the game’s source material. It is great not only for those who already enjoy playing the games, but also for new viewers who prefer to observe rather than participate.
Shaman King
To bridge the gap between the living and the dead, exceptional humans with spiritual power play an important role in the Shaman King’s universe. These individuals can even channel a bound soul to acquire the abilities of a legendary warrior or kung fu master, provided they are talented and trained enough to do so.
It appears that the second attempt is crucial for success. This revised and expanded edition of the manga will appeal to both new and returning readers. To everyone’s good fortune, another is on its way.
Spy x family
After only a few weeks of its release, Spy x Family has established itself as the must-see title of the year. In order to accomplish a mission, an assassin, a spy, and a young girl with the ability to read minds are brought together to form the “ideal family.” But will they be able to deceive their immediate surroundings? This also contains one of the most incredible moments ever captured in a proposal, and the sequence alone is sufficient reason to watch the entire video.
Love of Kill
When both bounty hunters become targets, their destinies become intertwined, and as their relationship develops, they discover that there is more to their pasts than initially appears to be the case. I would highly recommend to anyone to give this show a try!
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
One of my personal favorite shows is Demon Slayer. The conclusion of the Entertainment District Arc signifies an additional step in Demon Slayer’s ascent to the top of the genre’s essential titles. If you haven’t had the chance to watch this series yet, now is the best time to do so, as it has already been renewed for a third season that will focus on the manga’s Swordsmith Village.
The quality of sound and animation in Demon Slayer is truly amazing and breathtaking. I consider this as the best anime which is a must watch and it has definitely made a place in my heart as one of my all time favorites.

Is this the same shenmue based of of the last three games or so? Heard a few great things from it…Great post as always Irina
I am always wary of “must watch” lists in the same way that I run screaming in the opposite direction when someone tries to foist a book on me that I “must” read. So to put this in a more positive frame I just view posts like this as a list of “anime I really like” and engage with them at that level. And, to be fair, there are a couple of interesting looking titles here that I will try and check out if RL gives me the opportunity. I did try and watch “Love of Kill” but dropped it after a few eps…can’t quite put my finger on why, but there was something about the relationship between the main protagonists that annoyed me or didn’t feel quite right….But thanks for the interesting post! 🙂
Wow, I didn’t even know that Shaman King manga was getting a rewrite! Thanks for the heads up! SpyXFamily was amazing, it’s definitely a must watch of the year!
You made a good anime list.
Shenmue the Animation is a must-watch. And even though I never played the games. I saw this air on Toonami, and it is good anime to check out from start to finish.
Shaman King is an anime I heard of but never took the time to give it a fair shot. I heard good things about Shaman King back in the day, but this was when I was getting into anime and being picky about what I watched back then.
Spy x family is another anime I need to watch since I saw Twitter freaking out about how it was a good anime and saw how Twitter made memes about the Spy x family, and I guess it is time to watch.
Love of Kill is a new anime I have not heard of until now. And something I can add to my backlog of anime again.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is an anime that needs no intro. It is an anime worth watching. And the movie is good as well. A work of art, I need to watch Season 2 as I hear it is good and the new lore.
Like always, you make rad blog posts and give me more anime to watch in the future. :3
Completely agree with the Demon Slayer recommendation, as I have personally watched it and reviewed it as well. That anime is going to be a classic to which we can look back ten years from now.
Its one of my favorite anime of all time! The animation, sound, story and effects are like no other anime so far! I am glad you taking time and commenting on my article!
