It’s summertime! Ahhh yeah! Time to put on the sunscreen and take off the winter coats because we can finally go outdoors again.. for about a week until it gets so unbearably hot that running from the air-conditioned car to the air-conditioned mall is just not worth the risk!
So to celebrate this very brief window of Montreal clemency in weather, I bring you the June 2019 anime blog discovery post! I have a few fellow bloggers that also advertise newer blogs whenever they get the chance and I tip my hat to you.
There’s something just fun and carefree about discovering a new blog to enjoy and sharing it with you all, makes it all the better. It’s also heartening to see that we still have new writers interested in picking up the torch and sharing with us their views on anime. I know first hand that it can be a chore sometimes so I appreciate anyone that puts in the effort. And today, let’s all appreciated these guys:
My Say on Anime
My say on anime started out at the beginning of the month and has been publishing a steady series of posts dedicated to the shonen genre. Thankfully, there s no shortage of shonen anime but you know, we don’t have that many blogs that specialize in it. This will be a refreshing change.
There are also a nice couple of posts on the basics of anime and manga if you still haven’t given up on getting your friends in on your hobby. Am I the only one who enjoys reading posts about the basics of anime even if I already know most o them?
gamblyseltzer
That title sounds like a drink. gamblyseltzer offers up a mix of anime and jrpg content to scratch that occasional gaming itch. These are fun conversational style posts that vary from to the next to provide you with unpredictable content.
Sometimes you don’t quite know what you want so a blog that will give you a surprise is great. And sometimes you want anime or gaming content, so this blog is still great!
BAD REVIEWS
Bad reviews, they’re not good. I love a blog with a clear mission statement, and Bad Reviews has one. As you can imagine, this is a blog that doesn’t take itself too seriously and I am here for that! Although the primary focus is anime you will find reviews and thoughts on live action and American movies and media as well.
Bad reviews also might have the blogging breaks thing down. They go on announced and planned hiatus regularly and update the blog accordingly. I should take notes!
The Jackabee Reads and Writes
Which makes the Jakabee already more talented than me. I’m always impressed with blogs written by professional authors, which is the case here, I’m not just going on another random tangent. E. M. Neftelberg has a novel you can find out about here, and also authors the Jackabee.
I first discovered the site with this post on Sarazanmai. I cannot wait to binge this show for some reason. I thought it was just because of my yokai affinity but after reading this post and finding out it was made by Kunihiko Ikuhara of Revolutionary Girl Utena, Mawaru Penguindrum, and Yurikuma Arashi fame, I’m even more eager. I love highly symbolic and odd anime. Also, the post did a great job selling this show!
HUSHED COUNTRY
Isn’t that image beautiful? It’s from a manga and OVA called Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō, which I will now read thanks to this blog!
Somehow Hushed Country has been posting detailed anime essays all year and I managed to completely miss them. I console myself by saying this blog is one of WordPress’ best-kept secrets because I think a lot of you may have missed it as well. No worries, we can make up for lost time now!
HonoYoRu thoughts
I’ve noticed there are a surprising amount of manga and wrestling blogs out there. Nothing wrong with that at all, it just made me realize the two share a lot of fans in common.
HonoYoRu seems to have been on a 3-year hiatus and recently came back bringing us a sweet Wotakoi review for all to enjoy. I find the idea of a blogger coming back after such a long break absolutely fascinating and I hope to see a lot more of this blog in the future! You should also check out HonoYoRu’s domain name. It’s fun!
Now then, grab some sunglasses and a nice breezy dress. Yes, even if you’re a guy. Trust me, you would much rather be wearing a loose sundress than those pants in summer weather, who cares about outdated social fashion norms!?! And get yourself a nice spot in the shade where you can dig into these lovely blogs.
Now tell me that doesn’t sound like a great way to spend an afternoon. You can’t! Cause it is. I’m going to go do it right now!
Once again, I bow to your skill in finding these new sites. I’m always looking, and this time, I was 0 for 6!
Do you hang out at ICANN or something?
I have this vision of you sitting down in a park, casually putting a thick envelop on the bench. An unremarkable passerby sits down, checks her smart phone, and while looking at the weather, exchanges a thumb drive for the envelop.
In the distance, birds sing.
Are you spying through my webcam…i mean NO. That’s silly. You’re silly….
These are always the best. Thanks for doing these!
And thank you so much for reading them – it really means a lot
Yay, new things to read! Arigatou!
That’s what I’m here for!
You know, now that I have lots of downtime for work, it’s time to read a few more people.
I’m definitely not just buzzing off work.
I’l be honest, I thought you were a student… You should be studying!
Well, I WAS a student up until a few weeks ago when I graduated. Immediately joined the workforce because hey, free time is for chumps, hahahhaha (*I need a break*)
Working life is gonna be rough. I recommend marrying money!
Too bad money wants money from me 🙁
Hooray, new people to follow, new stuff to read, new ways to fill boring periods at work!
No no… you shouldn’t reads blogs at work…cough…
Pfft. Just try and stop me! 🙂
It’s always nice and refreshing to see new people starting their own blogs! It puts me back and makes me remember when you did the same for me. Damn, so much nostalgia!
I know right!
