And just like that, it’s summer! That was quite a season and more particularly, quite an episode. Crow and I try to parse it out over on Crow’s blog. There was so much going on though so let us know if we didn’t get to your favourite part!
The episode looked great as well! I took way too many screencaps. And I want to share them with you!

The episode started out pretty much like the rest of the season. Night time on the outskirts of the swordsmith village. Everything is dark blue in the pale moonlight.
It really makes Tanjirou’s flames stand out, doesn’t it? Although to be perfectly honest, I still prefer the water. I just like the wave designs so much!

And this is when you know that the episode is about to pull something different. It’s daybreak! We haven’t seen actual sunlight (aside from flashbacks) since the first episode, and Ufotable really made the most of it. Using the pale creeping light to full effect creating some really beutiful images.
If you happen to somehow miss all the blood on the characters, I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that this was a calm and hopeful moment. This clash between the events of the show and the visuals really heightened the tension and impact of this moment.

This sequence was in many ways a little clip show to remind us that Nezuko is the cutest and I couldn’t resist adding some screencaps as well!

Speaking of hopeful! Look I have some issues with this turn of events. I talked to Crow about them if you are interested. But I can’t deny that I teared up and a lot of it was due to the great visuals and animation here. Breazy, calm and yet filled with gravitas, this was a great sequence.

This entire season of Demon Slayer was full of flashbacks. In fact, you can describe it as two fights interrupted by flashbacks. Yet it’s only Muzan’s backstory that gets the black-and-white treatment. With touches of red when things get real! Very artsy!
And of course, Muzan would get a particular visual treatment. This is the larger-than-life big bad of the show and Demon Slayer has been very careful to always show him in a distinctive and different way. As in Muzan is always visually marked as not only different from humans but also from other demons. Unique if you will. So why wouldn’t his past also be striking!
And then it was over. One last beautiful happy note full of colours!

I actually thought this would be the resolution for Nezko. She never fully became a demon and remained a half-demon. Her human side remained in control. As we all know, half-vampires can handle the sun. In some storylines, a vampire who never drinks human blood can handle the sun. I figured that was the end game.
She may even be a full human now with the demon burned away. Or she may retain some powers, like Genya, who has something demon going on inside. The rest of the series might just be protecting her from Muzan.
I was expecting Muichiro to be dead. As it was, they defeated two upper-level demons without taking demon slayer losses (Never mind the swordsmiths who died.) Tanjiro has a nifty sword waiting for him. Nezko doesn’t have to hide any more.
Total victory! This is getting too easy.
In the end, despite all the violence DS is a kid’s show
Well, they did already kill off one hashira. It could happen again.
