Have I mentioned how much of a challenge writing episode reviews for Play it Cool, Guys, is? It’s an enjoyable challenge that I look forward to each week, but a challenge nevertheless. Not only is this a show where almost nothing happens but it’s also a short program, so almost nothing happens for a brief period of time.
Am I making it sound exciting!

This week was another Shun-centric story and I think he was at his most likable and relatable. The earphone thing was particularly familiar. Who hasn’t at some point trashed their head around to show off how well their earphones stay in place only to have them fly off and have to spend the next 5 minutes searching for them. Only me?
So Shun is the basic meathead character. They even called him that in the episode. I think it’s the first time I’ve heard the word meathead in an anime. Anyways, Shun is great at sports and very liked by the ladies but he’s abysmal at studying. It’s fun that Shun isn’t clumsy in any way. All his slip-ups are really because he just doesn’t think before he acts.
There was also something nice about the fact that Mima was there the entire episode but only in the background. I can’t quite explain it but the fact that the main characters can all co-exist in the same space without much need for them to interact just adds to the relaxed nature of this show.
I’m not going to speculate on what’s going to happen next time because it honestly doesn’t matter. But I am looking forward to it and I hope I can find something to say afterward.
