It’s a well-known fact that watching even a single episode of anime a day makes you at least 18% all around generally more attractive and the long-term benefits are difficult to overstate.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: Everybody already knows this, why is Irina going on about basic facts again??? Well I just thought that maybe some of you would be interested in finding out the why of it all. And potentially crafting your own anime watching program suited for your specific needs.

It can be intimidating when you see all those near perfect human specimens at conventions or even in your local manga shops but it’s important to keep in mind that we have been watching anime for years! It’s not easy but with perseverance and time, some day you can be one of us as well!
The first thing you have to remember is that people are a product of their environments and the physiological features can mould and adapt to who and what they spend the most time with. You know how people start to resemble their dogs (or vice versa), it’s the same phenomenon. So of course the more anime characters one sees the more likely they are to start looking like an anime character themselves. And what’s more attractive than anime characters? Trick question, nothing!
However, that’s by far the least of it and it’s not a guarantee. The real benefits are much more tangible.

Anime has a wide variety of very unusual personalities and quirks. Avid anime watchers have learned to accept and appreciate them all. That means that with enough anime watch hours under your belt, you will naturally start seeing the best everyone has to offer. It opens the viewers mind and teaches acceptance. Think about it, when you meet someone that can see the best in all those around, it makes you want to spend more time with them, doesn’t it? It just makes the entire world brighter.
Besides your mind, anime also gives you a keen aesthetic eye. All these colours, shapes and outrageous deigns an anime watcher gets to see on a regular basis sharpens their consciousness for visual elements. I know my love for colours really developed alongside my love for anime. And people with a good eye for colours and design can easily translate it into good makeup, hair and clothing.
Not to mention that anime fashion is something to behold. It can turn even the greenest novice into an expert designer! Of course, the clothes don’t make the man (or the woman) but let’s face it, it doesn’t hurt!
Now you’ve perfected your mind and visual presentation but what about the most important: your heart!

Have you ever watched a Slice of Life anime? Of course you have! If not, please stop reading this and go find a nice Slice of Life anime. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did! Now that we’ve all watched a Slice of Life anime, did it give you feels? If not, you probably didn’t watch the right one. Once again, go right ahead and watch another. Don’t worry, we’ll all wait. There now, I bet you raised your emotional quotient by a good 10 points. And that doesn’t just stop you know. Keep watching and feeling and your emotional intelligence is going to go straight through the roof!
On top of all that, if you’ve been watching subtitled shows, you’ve learned how to read quickly and process both written words and images at the same time. Plus you’ve probably picked up a few words of Japanese in time and we all know the more languages a person speaks, the sexier they are. It’s just what happens.
On the other hand, if you’ve been watching dubs, you’ve doubtlessly learned how to listen which is something I’m frequently told is very important! Maybe I should switch to dubs…
If you happen to be one of those particularly talented people that can do both, then congratulations you’ve got the best of both worlds! A rare gift that is.
And let’s not forget that a lifetime of having strangers and uninitiated friends and family ask you about your anime hobby has taught you the patience to answer the same questions over and over again, even when they are a little silly and the unbreakable confidence to hold your head high despite the bemusement and occasionally thinly veiled insults of those who have not yet seen the light. Don’t worry, we’re just ahead of our time. It seems pretty obvious that very soon everyone will be watching anime as their primary source of entertainment.

So to sum it up, after a year or two of regular anime consumption, you can expect to be a more charismatic and happy person, with a great sense of style and impeccable presentation. You’re likely to be caring, understanding, self aware and empathetic as well as patient and confident. You’ll have the skills to assess new information quickly and teach others in turn and you’ll know a minimum of two languages. It would be odder at this point if you weren’t bursting with confidence but I’m sure your humble origins as an introverted otaku will keep you down to earth. Obviously someone like that is bound to be super attractive. There’s no real way around it. And you look vaguely like an anime character.
I don’t know about you, but that certainly sounds like an attractive human being to me!
So as you can clearly see, if you need to be more sensitive, add some Slice of Life to your regimen. If you think you could use some flair, seek out the high production value shows. Do you need to learn how to listen, you know what to do! Your partner complains that you can’t multitask and they loose you as soon as something else comes up, then go for subs. If you care too much about what others think, start discussing anime with random strangers on public transit…you know, once public transit is safe and all. You can add as little or as much of these elements as you need to fit your desired results.
*** Attractiveness is entirely subjective. Most people think that others are more attractive than they are which of course can’t be true or else everybody would be more attractive than everybody. So you probably don’t need to watch anime to be attractive and you’re already super delightful as you are. But why not watch a little anime just to be safe***
This is an interesting topic. I watched a lot of anime and I feel like I can learn about a character’s personality and emulate their behavior. Sometimes if feels like it helps me be confident.
You sounds like a great saleswoman. Are you by chance a saggitarius? I’m serious. 🙂
I’M not on both counts. Not a saggitarius and the one time I worked retail I was dismal at it… But thanks!
I feel you with the Slice of Life anime point. Some shows I watched were just so deep and as much as I hate to admit it, they opened my eyes to my own flaws (ha that’s a bit dramatic).
I actually know what you mean. As derpy as it sounds I have seen myself in characters I don’t like much and it’s forced some introspection…
Not in my world it doesn’t…. 🙁
No harm in trying. It does take a lot of anime
17 years, 785 series, 187 films, and 128 OVA…. yeah, I guess I’m not making enough effort… 😛
Im sorry. The post was a joke. Sometimes I don’t make it clear. I do stand by my last paragraph though ☺
So was mine, hence the tongue sticking out emoji… 🙂
I thought those numbers looked funny. Good one!
Oh the stats are very real, the sentiment was the joke… 😉
Makes sense to me. I have discovered riding public transportation while wearing anime gear has an even more fun effect – other anime people run up and jump up and down and introduce themselves and often even give me hugs (well, back when hugs were safer). I find this truly heartwarming. We must spread the anime love so we can all learn to accept and be loving 😀
People here hug all the time…. It’s an issue
I mean, that just sounds like facts to me. 😁
It is!
This makes perfect sense great read.

Thank you
Just wanted I needed to read today. I am HOT.
Once in a while it’s important to state the obvious…
More attractive? Is that even legal?! But some interesting points. . .
Deeply scientific
this is super interesting acc, thank you for posting x
Pleasure
Anime breaks my brain and my perceptions of attractiveness more and more every day. Made all the worse by the fact I’m seeing far less real people day to day what with this virus stuff going on.
The amount of super cute girls described as “plain” and super jacked teenage guys who everyone seems to hate has warped me to the point where I fear I’ll enter a vegetative state upon encountering normal looking people again, whenever that happens.
I love when you watch an anime where all the girls are essentially the exact same model with different hair and eye colour but only one is supposed to be super cute….
