Guys! It’s that magical time of year. That wonderful snowy time where I blog about anime or loosely related subjects for 12 days in a row! Ok, so I do that anyway but now, it’s christmasy!
Kidding aside, I do enjoy taking part in the 12 Days of Anime Blogmas every year even if it doesn’t seem like a big change from the outside. In fact I enjoy it so much that last year I tried to keep the experience going by choosing my post topics ahead of time for another month or so. It wasn’t that same. It seems that that’s not what makes Blogmas special.
I’m about to go into some seriously cringy territory, be warned! I’ve come to realize that just like the holiday we are celebrating, Blogmas isn’t all about the rituals, ornaments or treats you can get out of it. Those are nice to be sure but the true spirit of Blogmas is in the people… Hey, I warned you!
For those of you less familiar with the event, Blogmas doesn’t actually require the participants to do anything beyond post (or attempt to post) what they set out for themselves. Perpetual Morning (who has been organizing the event a far as I can tell) doesn’t seem interested in using it for self promotion.
It’s just a whole bunch of fun loving anime bloggers all posting for 12 days about a subject they love. That’s all. And it energizes me every year to keep on posting until the next one. It’s one of those experiences you can’t really explain. Taking part in something that’s both small and not threatening but still bigger than myself and only possible because I took a blogging journey.
If you are one of the bloggers participating this year, awesome, I can’t wait to read what you have to say. If you are thinking about it, I hope you take the leap next year. It’s going to be fun, trust me!
As for this year, I hope you join me for my 12 days of Anime Blogmas starting on December 14 with a… Dr Stone review. OK so it’s a slow start but it will get better, I promise!
Merry Blogmas one and all!!!
