Anime is an infamous medium for having insanely powerful characters. Thanks to the concept of magic, almost all the main characters in any fantasy series would be powerful. However, today, we are going to ignore such magical powers and focus on the physically strongest female characters in anime.
That said, some of the characters on this list actually have some supernatural abilities, but the point is they’re still strong even without any of that.
These characters have trained their bodies to the limit and are capable of superhuman feats without relying on cheat abilities like magic.
So without further ado, here are the top 10 physically strongest women in anime.
- Mikasa Ackerman
- Biscuit Krueger
- Ghislaine Dedoldia
- Mereoleona Vermillion
- Erza Scarlet
- Big Mom
10. Morgiana from Magi
At number 10, we have Morgiana from Magi. In a world where magic and magical items are commonplace, Morgiana was forced into becoming a slave when she was a little girl.
She had to endure mentally and physically exhausting work and abuse from her owner. Because she grew up in such extreme conditions, her physical strength and mental fortitude are much stronger than those of the average person.
Especially after she escaped from slavery and broke the mental restrictions she had developed thanks to years of being enslaved, she truly became the strongest female character in the anime.
9. Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan
When most anime fans talk about physically strong female characters, the one that immediately comes to their minds is Mikasa.
Thanks to the popularity of the anime, she is a well-known figure in the anime and manga communities.
What sets her apart from the rest is that she is obsessed with protecting her childhood friend, Eren. Because of this desire, she was able to ace the survey corps training and become one of the strongest characters in all of Attack on Titan.
Mikasa is known and admired for her titan-slaying skills and her ability to make the right call in a desperate situation.
8. Biscuit Krueger from Hunter x Hunter
At first sight, Biscuit might not look like much of a fighter. As a matter of fact, you’d think she was some weak schoolgirl or something. But the truth is, she is far older than she looks. She is also far stronger than her appearance might lead you to think.
Biscuit, obsessed with the concept of youth and beauty, had used her nen ability to make herself look young and cute. Whereas her original appearance is that of a gigantic, muscular woman with a deep voice.
Because of this, she does not let anyone see her true form unless it is truly necessary. Regardless, just by looking at her bulked-up body, it is easy to tell that she is probably the most physically strong character in the Hunter x Hunter anime series.
7. Mirko from My Hero Academia
Mirko is one of the strongest pro heroes in the MHA anime and manga series. She is a strong and muscular woman with enhanced physical abilities thanks to her quirk.
Mirko is not just physically strong; she is also a very resilient and self-confident female character. She instantly became a fan favorite because of her strong-willed personality.
Her superpowers give her enhanced hearing abilities, strength, speed, and pain tolerance.
However, even without such abilities, she is a force to be reckoned with. After all, she still fought as a hero with prosthetic limbs after losing her arm and leg in a fight.
6. Ghislaine Dedoldia from Jobless Reincarnation
Ghislaine is a skilled swordmaster belonging to the beast race. Not only does she have the physical appearance of a strong female character, but her muscles are as hard as steel.
Ghislaine specializes in absolutely destroying her enemies with sheer strength and will. While she is not very bright when it comes to using her head, she has more than enough experience to come up with strategies.
Like every other strong woman in anime, Ghislaine’s personality is also very bold and confident. She is also a loyal friend and a great bodyguard.
5. Akame from Akame ga Kill
Akame is the lead character in the epic anime series Akame ga Kill. She is a skilled assassin and an important member of an assassination guild called Night Raid.
The primary objective of Night Raid is to slay all the corrupt individuals who are ruining their capital.
However, this means fighting several powerful foes who are trained to kill. In such a kill-or-be-killed fight, Akame shows her true strength with her swordsmanship.
While Akame unlocks a supernatural ability near the end of the show, she is still the physically strongest female character in the entire anime.
4. Mereoleona Vermillion from Black Clover
Mereoleona is one of the iconic female characters from Black Clover and is known for her physical strength. Even though she was born into a royal family, she actually lived in the jungle in order to train herself.
Mereoleona is a fierce woman with a badass attitude, showing no fear even in the most desperate situation.
Apart from her physical strength, she is very well known for her fire-based magic attacks. Overall, Mereoleona is a pure fighter who went out of her way to train her body even though she had magic. This makes her one of the coolest female characters from the series.
3. Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail
Erza Scarlet is one of the main characters in the anime and is introduced as the strongest female character in the Fairy Tail guild. Her magic abilities only allow her to equip armor and weapons and do not give her any other sort of advantage.
Because of this, she has to rely on her sheer physical strength in order to face powerful enemies with insane magical abilities.
What makes her special is her durability. She can endure an unbelievable amount of pain and still fight to win.
At one point, she had to fight against a demon that multiplied her pain sense several fold and took away her senses. Erza, though greatly wounded, still won that fight. This incident shows just how strong Erza truly is.
2. Big Mom from One Piece
Big Mom is one of the primary antagonists from the One Piece series. She is one of the four pirate groups that even the world government could not subdue.
Her entire pirate crew is made up of her children, and each of them is extremely loyal to her.
However, what sets Big Mom apart from the rest is her power. Her devil fruit ability allows her to manipulate souls, which is scary as it is. But in addition to that, she is a monster when it comes to raw physical strength.
She could easily withstand a cyborg Brachiosaurus headbutting her and move around as if nothing happened. Not to mention, she was not actually using her powers or haki at that point.
1. Kale from Dragon Ball Super
At number 1, we have none other than the strongest female character in all of anime when it comes to physical strength, Kale.
Kale is a female saiyan who is normally shy and introverted. She also has very little confidence and pride. However, when she enters her legendary Saiyan form, she becomes a merciless killing machine. She loses all control and has no feeling for others.
Later on in the show, Kale learns to control the powers of the legendary Saiyan and use them while retaining her normal senses. In the manga, she is shown to have a little more confidence; however, she is still subservient and lacks the pride of a saiyan.
That’s it for this post! These were the top 10 physical strength bound female characters in anime.

Morgiana wasn’t strong because she had to endure slavery. She was already physically strong because she was a member of the Fanalis tribe. She wasn’t able to show off her true strength until she was free from slavery and after her freedom, she gets stronger.
An older example: one of the 3 demon kings from Yu Yu Hakusho. Her story is quite similar to Morgiana.
What?!? You forgot Hitomi from Hitomi-chan Is… No she doesn’t have an Anime yet. But that’s discrimination!!… Maybe.
I don’t read manga because I’m blind.
