I have given up on convincing most of you to watch idol anime… actually no, I take that back, I will never give up! Even though I actually have no strong feelings on the subject, writing about idol anime is hilarious and I will keep on doing it! So there.
This was not how my opening paragraph was supposed to go. What do I do now? Hmmmm.
Even if you don’t like traditional idol anime, you might find something to love about these bands. These are not just your run-of-the-mill idols, they looked happen to be out of this world. Here’s a list of 5 supernatural idol anime shows!

5. Phantom of the idol
Any real idol will tell you that being an idol is not something that you do, it’s something that you are! And you can’t just stop being an idol for some silly little reason like dying.
*** proves that being an idol is deep within your soul and if she can get on that stage Even though she doesn’t have a body anymore, she’ll make darn sure the audience leaves with a smile on their face. She’ll haunt you alright, with her angelic voice and envigorating optimism!

4. Concrete Revolutio
Concrete Revolutio isn’t an idol show but then again it’s not not an idol show. The series straddles so many genres that you can’t rule any particular one out. And around the midpoint, we get the introduction of Angel Stars.
These super-powered idols will enchant you with their music. More specifically they’ll suck your power out of you. But isn’t that what any self-respecting idol group aims for? I know there are some mean-spirited whispers about them being nothing more than industry puppets that were given their success by Imperial Ads execs but I beg to differ. When push comes to shove, these ladies proved they can shove back!

3. Visual Prison
I don’t remember if the word idol was ever used in the series. Technically, all the bands in Visual Prison are Visual Key bands, hence the name but it’s my list and I’m calling it close enough. Besides, Visual Prison is just pure dumb fun (some emphasis on the dumb) and we can all use more of that.
Vampires are sort of a supernatural Grey zone. As far as the no longer humans go, vampires are really not that different from everyday folks. Especially the Visual Prison vampires who don’t seem to crave blood, turn into bats or enthrall people. They aren’t crazy about sunlight and have eternal youth. Then again, musicians who only come out at night and don’t seem to age are not exactly unusual, are they?

2. Zombieland Saga
I don’t think you can talk about supernatural idol anime without mentioning Zombieland Saga anymore. It might be a very specific niche but by golly Franchouchou dominate it.
I have to imagine that even if this is the first time you hear about this show (which would be surprising ) you can still guess what type of supernatural creatures these idols are. How exactly they all can together to form n idol group is a bit of a long story but believe me when I say, Franchouchou may lose body parts occasionally but they’ll never lose hearts. These idols will do what it takes to stay fresh even if you’re rotting, and take the world by storm. And make you want to visit Saga while they’re at it.

1. Sekkou Boys
I hesitated on where to put Sekkou Boys. As far as personal enjoyment goes, this is not my favorite anime on this list. But part of that is because I really wanted to like it a lot more. After all, it has one of the all-time best premises ever.
Senkkou Boys aren’t just a bunch of supernatural pretty boys here to Newton you. They are classical busts come to life. Literally plaster busts of St-Giorgio, Hermes, Medici and Mars somehow having gained consciousness only to form a boy band.
The show never explains how this happened, they seem to be the only sentient statues around yet no one ever questions it. And they weigh a ton and can’t really move because they’re busts. It’s amazing! I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t want to watch this.
There you have it, five more reasons to get into idol shows as if you needed any more.

Surprisingly, I’ve finished 4 of these (and watched a single episode of the 5th). Question though: Why is Asahi’s name represented as “***”?
Maybe you have a very specific niche.
I’m not sure why her name is like that. Weird.
I never thought about it too hard, but there sure are quite a few supernatural idol groups in anime! That’s a pretty unique list that would surely make an interesting line up for a show lol.
I’m not really a huge fan of Idol anime, but these series were really good! I particularly liked Zombie Land Saga (that was soooo good!) and Phantom of the Idol (that one was really cute!).
Maybe you just like supernatural idols!
