Shiki
A small quiet Japanese town is hit with a wave of mysterious deaths, seemingly connected to a strange family moving into the long abandon hilltop Kanemasa mansion. As paranoia sweeps through the townspeople, the town doctor will stop at no end to prove the existence of vampire-like creatures known as “shiki” and put a stop to their spread, even if he has to sacrifice his own loved ones in the process . This is a straight horror anime complete with creepy imagery and gore, perfect if you’re looking for more of that classic scary movie experience. The intricate vampire lore and gory twist filled plotlines really amp up the creep factor, making it a perfect watch if you want an immersive, check under your bed, horror experience.

Hell Girl
Each episode of this horror anthology follows a different story of a character summoning the Hell Girl to seek revenge on their enemies. The Hell Girl and her companions will then torment their desired target before giving them one last chance to repent before casting them down to Hell. However, the summoner will also eventually be damned to Hell, begging the question, How far will you go to seek revenge?
If you’re a fan of Japanese horror movies such as Ringu and The Grudge, you’ll love Hell Girl. With beautiful traditional style background art and character designs combined with a good amount of gore and disturbing imagery, Hell Girl is a great watch if you’re craving more a more disturbing this Halloween.

The Familiar of Zero.
This witchy anime follows a failed student witch Louise. Bullied and outcast by her classmates, Louise is desperate to prove her skills. When a ritual to summon a familiar goes wrong, Louise is stuck permanently bound with a teenage boy from the mortal world. Louise and her new familiar must then learn how to get along and make the most of this strange arrangement.
Another great choice for fans of Harry Potter, this anime puts a unique spin on the school of magic trope. The dynamic between Louise and her mortal familiar makes for both comedic and wholesome moments. The quirky character designs and background art mixed with creative expansive lore makes The Familiar of Zero a perfect witch themed watch for the Halloween season.
