 Favorite Chimera ant

After choosing an array of bloodthirsty psychopaths as my favorites, I feel like I should point out that I don’t necessarily pick characters I would like as friends to be my favorites. If that was the case, considering the Hunter x Hunter universe, I would probably just end up posting on nice calm looking cashiers and waiters that won’t get me killed. As it is, I try to choose characters that to me add something to the narrative. I think we can all agree Neferpitou had an impact.

And just like that, everything changed

Neferpitou is a pivotal character and the single catalyst for what is arguably the biggest turning point in the series. No matter how you look at it, Hunter x Hunter as we know it does not exist without him…her….it’s an ant, kinda. The road Neferpitou sent Gon and Killua down is a difficult and often unpleasant one, both for them and for the audience. Because of ze, I got to experience some honestly heartbreaking moments. Thanks to ze, the series got a chance to show that it was truly one of a kind by tackling some deeply complexe yet intimately humane issues with grace and disarming honesty. For that, I will never be able to forgive or thank Pitou properly.

you could try presents – expensive ones

All of the Royal Guard ants were a force to reckon with but none delivered the visceral impact or pure adrenaline rush of Neferpitou. Zir fighting choreography remains one that I judge most fight scenes against. Pitou’s design was also fantastic. Interesting and unique it made me want to cosplay and forced me to look up the proper pronoun for gender neutral individuals. It’s “ze”. Those weren’t all typos.

feeling all right?

Honorable mentions – considering chimera ants are human eating apex predators, I’m not sure it would be wise to befriend any of them but on the likable side, I always had a soft spot for Ikalgo and Meleoron.

Random thought – Where I come from Pitou means puppy.
