Play It Cool, Guys – episode 11

Out of the four guys, I’m probably most like Hayate. I don’t get embarrassed as much anymore but that’s probably just because I’ve grown immune to it throughout the years. But that scene, where he thought a dog was running up to him and got super happy just to have the puppy run past him. I could really feel the pain of that scene. I get you bud!

Pay it Cool, Guys is probably one of the most aimless shows I have ever watched. That’s part of its charm really. If someone came up to me and asked me what this show was about, I’m not sure I could even tell them anything.

It might be hard to tell, but I mean all of this as a compliment.

For instance this week, we say Hayate at school. This is the first time we see him in university. It seems he has a friend there who is no stranger to the ladies and he gets roped into going to a mixer. He does, has a few drinks, a girl flirts with him but he doesn’t notice so he heads back home early and charges his phone to find a message from Shun who has passed all his tests. That makes him really happy. Hayate enjoyed his night out but he’s much more introverted than the people around him and so he finds it difficult to keep up sometimes and needs to recharge with some alone time.

Also, Hayate tries to pet various animals throughout the episode but they all run away from him.

And that is all folks. There are no huge jokes that I skipped, no fanservice, no lingering glances. It’s a very normal evening in a student’s life. The exact type of evening I have had many times. But despite that, and maybe because of it up to a certain point, there was something soothing in watching this quiet evening. I had a lot of fun with Hayate. hope he gets to pet a dog or a cat soon!
