When You First Get Recognized – (award post)

And I’ve been extremely lucky to get some recognition from my fellow bloggers and I won’t lie, it feels great!

First the lovely Josmarie from It’s An Anime Thing (remember guys, she changed her domain not that long ago – make sure to update those bookmarks if you haven’t yet!) recognized me as a new year’s present

Soon after, my fellow Canadian (we all feel obligated to point out whenever someone else is from this enormous country) from the Mayotarium graced me yet again!

Then I was flattered and surprised to be further recognized by my OWLS comrade Miandro a few weeks ago.

Because he always keeps the good times rolling, Arthifis sweetly thought of me in his post last week.

And finally Pete over at MoeGamer was kind enough to give me a shout out as well.

I really have to sTOP scheduling posts so far in advance – this is the 3rd time I’m editing this to add yet another sweetheart that thought of me.

aNd sweetheart truly is the right word here, if you know Brittney then you know exactly what I mean!

This is a fantastic tag which allows you to share your blog’s history and give some advice to others. These guys have some spectacular stories and I recommend you go read their posts and really all the recognition tags. They are well worth your time.

nope – it never go adapted…

 Legislature:

  1. Say thanks to who nominated you and leave a link back to that persons blog.

Thank you Josmarie, Miandro, Arthifis and Pete!!! I really appreciate the chance to write this fun post.

  1. Give the story or history of your blog.

I never get tired of writing about my blog’s super boring origin story. I wonder if you guys get tired of reading about it?

  1. give two or more pieces of advice for new bloggers.

Um…this is going to hurt me more than it hurts you…

  1. Nominate 10 other bloggers.

I will try!

  1. Comment on the nominated blogs and let them know they’ve been nominated and leave a link to the post.

I will not – But I will link to a page on their blogs so they get a pingback hopefully. Those have been rather sporadic for me and I know for a fact I’ve missed a bunch. When will the WordPress Powers forgive me!!??!!

I’ve learned my lesson – I’ll never complain again

A look at my blog’s history

I’ve talked about it a lot, it’s really not a secret. I started the blog late summer 2017 for all the usual reasons and also because I’m differently sane.

I wanted an outlet to talk about anime and possibly visual novels because they are both an important and dear part of my life. I do have friends, very few who share this hobby mind you, but despite my slanderous lies, most would be happy to patiently listen to me babble on about idol boys and talking cats. I’m the one who isn’t that interested in imposing my hobbies on them. Also, I’m a bit of an introvert (a gigantic one) and I enjoy the blog format which allows for anime socialization without having to actually be in the same room all the time.

ok – enough socialization for today!

Finally, I have the very bad habit of getting into behavioral loops. Repeating patterns that I can’t seem to break easily. A blog is a great bit of behavioral therapy for me. It’s an activity that I can do regularly without it having any huge drawbacks. The only real cost is time. Unlike exercise (where I’ve often injured myself) courses or hobbies, that have some monetary costs associated, blogging can’t really get out of hand. With a little effort I may even get better at writing which I consider a huge asset.

And so, thinking this would be a fun lark, I made a blog. I was not at all prepared for the humbling welcome and nurturing community I discovered. Or for the simple enjoyment of putting my thoughts down on paper (well screen…you know what I mean). Had I known all of this, I would have started a blog years ago. It’s been a fantastic experience and I recommend it to anyone and everyone.

An advice for new bloggers

I know this tag has gone around. I’ve seen bloggers I would consider role models answer it and most of the best advice has already been given out. This is why you should read these tags when you come across them!

I probably still qualify as fairly new blogger myself but one thing I found for my personal enjoyment is: remember it ain’t nothing but a number. So many people seem obsessed by their numbers to the point where they are willing to throw out their content because they don’t think it’s performing well enough. I certainly understand the drive to achieve something but honestly, stressing out about your stats is the best way to destroy your own enjoyment of your blog, make you dread writing posts and even make you abandon your blog all together. You are much better off looking forward to posting for your 3 followers than apprehending posting for you 1000 followers.

bear with me – this will makes sense

I’m not sure if this has been said already, plaid or checkered pants are surprisingly slimming and usually flattering on most body types. Unlike pinstripes, they do not emphasize curves because you can’t easily spot when any single line isn’t straight, but they still give that lengthening illusion. You should rock that school uniform chic with a pair.

Oh and one last one, if you want to reach out to someone on WordPress but aren’t sure if you should, do so. Everyone here is so kind and inviting. It’s a little suspicious

Ok that’s all I have. I hope you’re not too disappointed. I’ll make it up to you with my nominees. If I could I would tag everybody. I’m not just saying that, I love blog origin stories and I want to read them all! I’ll try to limit myself to those of you that have not been tagged dozens of times already though but feel free to play along anyways!

And of course Shokamoka. As a small concession, I am NOT linking to his wall for once. In fact, from now on I will choose an array from the posts I have enjoyed on his blog.

I need to come up with a signature sign off… I’ll tsun you all later? I would give an arm and a leg to be able to perform alchemy? Let’s make like Titans and go eat some Raw-men? Ok One last Piece of advice: don’t try to come up with anime puns as a sign off. It never goes well…
