Who would you cosplay as
I have cosplayed once or twice in my day and the experience has taught me some harsh realities. I am not quite the prideful, put together special unicorn princess I see myself as in my head. Rather I am a sloppy, slovenly dredge that is unfit to tie Ciel Phantomhive’s shoe laces. (i.e I tried cosplaying as Ciel, it did not go well…)
In time I learned that the two essential elements in any good cosplay are 1- the costume must be easy to put together and 2- the costume must be comfortable enough to walk around in all day. Bonus points if I can get away with not wearing a wig. Those things are hot.
With these stringent criteria in mind, we can quickly widdle down the options to 2.
Killua: as I’ve mentioned in a previous post I am an ardent fan of Killua’s casual cool style. He does lean in a bit into the brat fashion at the beginning of the series what whit the constant skateboard and all but in general he knows how to dress. I also got m hands on one of those weird octobackpacks. The extra straps are useless but otherwise it’s a perfectly good backpack I can keep all my stuff in. Yay. You have no idea how much of a perk storage is.
Neferpitou. Just a tad more effort to gather those specific pieces still shorts and a blazer are pretty common items that are unlikely to become painful at the end of a long convention day. More importantly though, I actually sort of look like Pitou already. Arguably, Pitou looks a little like Killua…My hair and tan are all pretty much spot on. Well my hair is a bit longer but it’s that colour. My eyes are grey but shift between a few colours (no quite the right ones but coloured contacts work well on me). I’m on the short and skinny side and a good sports bra can give me a slightly more androgynous figure. Also I radiate pure evil, so that’s handy. Basically it’s a look I can pull off with minimal effort.
As a plus, most people will look much more impressive standing next to me. (My Griffith cosplay turns an average guy into a very believably proportioned Guts).
Wow this post actually got me a bit excited. Maybe I’ll go out together a costume right now.
