I am so behind on these tags, but I have wanted to do the pirate crew for so long that I couldn’t resist when Nyan tagged me. Besides I’m a pirate at heart. Except for the pillaging and raping and the sailing on the open seas. Also, the fashion doesn’t suit me much and parrots are kind of intimidating. I like rum is what I’m saying here.
Did you know that white rum is the hard liquor with the lowest calorie count? Besides vermouth, but vermouth might as well be a mixer. Well, this post got off track fast!
For those of you unfamiliar, the gist of this tag is to build your own Pirate crew by assigning each specific job to an anime character of your choice. I don’t know whether the objective is to be a “successful” bloodthirsty murderin and robbin crew or a really fun one. I’m just going to aim for a crew that’s not going to immediately sink the ship!
Because I took so long to get on this pretty much every possible amazing anime crew already got assembled so instead, I’m going to build my own aniblogger crew. We will sail the virtual blogosphere together and not pirate anything cause that’s naughty. Please do not be offended if I call you a pirate – I mean it with all the love!
But first, what’s more piratey than rules?:
The Rules:
- Display the My Pirate Crew and add “My Pirate Crew” as the tag.
- Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you and share a link to their blog(s).
- You rock Nyan!
- Link back to the original post so Lynn Sheridan can check out everyone’s crews.
- Select seven anime characters and give them a position on the crew. These are the positions you can fill: Warrior, Sniper, Chef, Doctor, Scientist, Navigator, Strategist, Mechanic, and Entertainer.
- Nominate 5-10 bloggers to participate.
- Set sail and rule the seas!
Warrior
I am very open about my cowardice and therefore I think I need more than one warrior to hide behind. Therefore, I chose two.
David Boone (Another Anime Review). I know David has an actual background in protecting people and from the comments, I can tell that it comes naturally to him. I’m fairly positive that if push comes to shove, he won’t use me as a human shield. Like 60% positive.
Lethargic Ramblings. Leth is a big ol’ sweetheart but when push comes to shove, the man stands his ground. He can defend the indefensible. Leth is not one to get intimidated and I’m going to need those guts when the going gets rough.
Sniper
Lynn Sheridan, He started the tag so I think he has a keen sense of piracy and will be able to pick out enemies faster than anyone else. Lynn has a way to pick out what’s important. Also, this is weird but I think Lynn is a great name for a sniper.
Lita Kino. I have this vision in my head of awesome arc lightning canons ripping through the seas. At this point, I’m not even sure we’re going to need canons any more. What ship would be foolish enough to attack us under those circumstances!
Between my snipers and warriors, I feel pretty safe.
Chef
Shokomoka. If you’ve been on this blog for a while, you know that a tag post for me means a Shokamoka tag. That’s just the way these things go. Besides, I know the man can cook. Doesn’t that look tasty! He’s going to have to learn to create vegetarian versions of everything, but I have decided that he’s ok with that.
Keiko. I seem to remember that Keiko also likes cooking and her name sounds like “cake”. Kismet! So, while Shoka is taking care of the main course, Keiko will be our patissière. This crew is sounding more delicious by the minute.
Doctor
Nyan. Nyan writes these amazing self-care posts that must take a lot out of them. They are so earnest and raw and I’m sure they’ve helped a lot of us. They have made me feel better that’s for sure. What better doctor could I ask for?
Scientist
Anime Science 101. This one seemed like a given. I absolutely adore theorizing and scientific vulgarisation posts on anime but they are few and far between. Which is hardly a surprise considering how much work it takes to create and the fact that math is so scary. Good thing there’s anime science around.
Navigator
Karandi. No one knows the blogosphere better than Karandi. She is omnipresent in anime blogs. I have absolutely no idea how she manages to read, comment on and encourage so many blogs while keeping up with her own punishing schedule. If anyone is going to get us where we need to go, it’s her.
Strategist
Since I’ve gotten to know Crow, he’s becoming a stabilizing force in my blogging life. If I have a question or worry, I know I can turn to him. Our collaborations have thought me so much on structure and flow. He’s an amazing post strategist (sometimes known as editor).
Mechanic
Scott. Duh! Scott will keep us afloat no matter what and he’ll do it calmly and efficiently. As if his impressive real-world qualifications weren’t enough, he can also use that huge encyclopedic mecha knowledge to pimp out our ship into something truly impressive.
Entertainer
Matt. I’ve known Matt for a while and Matt is fun! He gets a little down on himself sometimes but I’ve had so many great laughs thanks to him and he would keep the ship party going for sure. Also, he wouldn’t judge my drinking which is a huge plus. He may steal some rum which a pretty big minus, but it evens out!
Takuto is an amazing writer. And It’s not like I can carry a huge library with me on the ship. Where would I put the rum? Next best thing: carry the author around with you. If ever Matt needs sleep or something (lazy!) I want to be able to pick up a hardcopy Takuto post to keep me entertained.
I also decided to add a few positions in my ship:
Nudist
Fred – nough said
Cabin girl (or Parrot)
Dark Red Rose, sure were entertained, fed, healthy, safe and we haven’t sunk but sometimes you need a little buddy to shoot the breeze with and argue over who is the best boy in the otome du jour. That’s where Rose comes in. Her comments are like texts from a childhood friend!
First Mate
Raistlin. Mostly because I miss Raistlin very much and I want him to be part of my crew. I think we can all agree on that.
I had to actually cut myself off here so that this post wouldn’t last forever but there are so many more amazing bloggers that I would love to have as part of my crew. I hope to get another pass at this eventually. In the meantime, I pass the ball to you:
You can go back to fictional characters if you prefer or build your own blogger crew. I volunteer for rum tester!
