Hey Matt, Hey Matt, we only have one more episode to go! What do you think about that? I think that’s the best thing I’ve heard all day! (Okay that was a bit harsh…)
Also, this show has 4.5/5 on Crunchyroll…. Anime fans are NOT discerning. Well not to give the people of MAL any credit but it has a 6/10 on there which are seems more in line with reality. (Still a full point above average…)
Anyways, we meet up with our team on their first tournament round and all I could think of was, wait, when did they get good enough to play in a tournament. Does every high school team just get in because there are so few girl’s baseball teams? I don’t pay enough attention to this show. I think it might be a case of the latter, I seem to recall something about them saying “they could just afford to enter the tournament” so I think it’s more of a ‘having the numbers/paying the fee’ kind of deal.
I really wasn’t entirely sure what tournament this was or why and then…I got distracted and immediately started shipping their teacher advisor with the bus driver dude. And I don’t even ship people… I think it’s probably more the fact that teachers in anime seem to be a particularly sad and lonely sort so it’d be nice for them to get together. Ouch! Matt is coming for anime teachers for some reason!
Before the first game, there was this little dinner with the opposite team then team sleepover scene. I know we’ve seen all these girls before but I really couldn’t remember anyone but the main characters. Also, that cornless corn dog looked really sad. It sort of revived my is a hot dog a sandwich dilemma and I got distracted again. I’m so glad you brought up the hotdog on a stick! This was endemic of (nearly) everything wrong with this show! Why bring out a hot dog on a stick in an anime full of cute High School girls if you’re not going to have one of them suggestively eat it! It’s almost like this show wants to be taken seriously or something?!
If I go by your rating of the bath scene earlier in the season (I believe it was “trash grade”) I’m going to assume you were none too impressed by this tame and demure sleepover either. I hope I don’t disappoint you too much by saying it looked pretty much like all the team sleepovers I’ve ever had. After my disappointment with the hot dog I wasn’t expecting anything from the sleepover scene.
The baseball game itself was fine. It took over most of the episode and I don’t have much to say about it. If you like baseball, it looked like what I think a game should look like. We got cameos from the random cool looking girls again which was useless but hey, I think we’re a bit past these types of complaints now… Honestly I enjoyed the game (shocking I know) if the show had a bigger budget and more interesting characters I might’ve enjoyed it even more!
It looks like purple hair girl is the best player now. Not sure when that happened but as we’ve established, I’m not the most reliable source of Cinderella Nine info. I hope you’re all enjoying this review… Need to put the box of wine away while watching these episodes, Irina! My wine is in a can, thank you very much!
So next week should be the wrap up of this match and of the season. (I’m just going to bet of the series as well). I’m pretty sure they’re going to lose but by a small margin so they can feel good about their progress. I honestly don’t understand how they even got into the tournament in the first place. Up until last week, only two of them could play at all….
Any predictions Matt? I mean these things could go either way, literally, either they win or they lose. I think if they’re wanting to wrap this up in the single episode then they’ll lose. But if they’re going to try and swing for a second season they might have them win so future episodes would be about that. Either way the only winners here are the people who dropped the show after episode one!
