Play It Cool, Guys – episode 5

Some shows just tease you and tease you but never deliver. But not Play It Cool, Guys. We’ve been hearing about the small anima café since the first episode and now, we finally got to see it.

Guys, I want to go to a small animal café. I want to go so bad. If one opens anywhere near my home or work, I will go every day! How are not all cafés, small animal cafés? This was a revelation!

So we’ve met all the main characters now. They are all indeed very cool dorks. Although Mima may be the coolest one. I was impressed by how he managed to put Hayate at ease. It’s not easy dealing with a nervous person like that, especially one you’ve just met. Mind you, Hayate seems pretty easy to please. He was beaming at being called kun at his job interview so maybe I’m giving Mima too much credit here.

Wait, that’s not what I wanted to talk about. Sheesh. I was going to say, we’ve met the four guys and now we’ve gone to the small animal café, so what is there left to do? Not that there needs to be anything specific to do. Play it cool, Guys is sort of an ultimate Slice of Life where truly nothing needs to happen. Especially as the episodes are so short. Since two of the four guys are now working at the restaurant owned by Shun’s big sister, I figure they’ll be plenty of opportunities for workplace shenanigans.

I just really wanted to use the caption!

You know, I wonder how any of these guys can even keep a job but it seems they are all very good at at least one thing. We know Shun is a star athlete, Hayate just mentioned that he was actually good at studying and Souma is great with people. In fact, we’ve already seen him at the job and he seemed to be rather skilled at it. I’m not sure about Mima though.

I sort of got the impression that his coworkers were happy to cover for him but I also don’t think he screwed up anything major at work. wonder whether we’ll get to see his special skill in the future. Or maybe the fact that he really is quite cool is his skill.

I continue to find this show majorly relaxing. And even though I may not have that much to say about it, I still have fun putting these short posts together. I hope to see you all again next week!
