Hi everyone…
Let me just say I promise this isn’t an ad. No one has ever been crazy enough to sponsor me but if you want to…
In any case, a little while ago I got a hankering to play a nice little old school iOS (in my case Android) Otome of the Voltage type. You know, one of those silly innocent, free phone app games. It had been a while so I decided to see what was available and I discovered they now had a few BL offerings. This is something I had never seen before in app form so I decided to give them a try, and made the questionable decision of calling them Blotomes (someone probably already thought of that but don’t burst my bubble).
Anyways, what I discovered was Abracadabra Games. They have a number of both traditional and BL otomes, following that standard you can only read a number of chapters a day but can pay money to read ahead. There are a few minigames as well. If you’re familiar with otome apps, you’ll have seen these mechanics before.
I’m currently playing a Wizardry Enchantment (Asato and Mao’s route), which is a somewhat Harry Potter type story full of magical creatures and wizarding exams. As well as the Broken Clock (Serge and Yayoi’s route) which seems to be a victorian adventure with princes and butlers and visiting college students.
I just wanted to say I’m really enjoying them. They’re well paced so I’m not too frustrated about the daily reading limit, it’s just enough. And you have plenty of chances to earn items to help you read ahead without having to spend real money.
The art is quite pretty, the sprites are beautiful and the CGs are fun. So far the Broken Clock has been perfectly innocent and cute while a Wizardly Enchantment is a little spicier (with some rather naughty scenes) and more comedic. I haven’t finished a route yet so I can’t vouch for the whole games but I’ve been having a lot of fun.
We’re not talking masterpieces here but if you’ve been looking for some pleasant BL games you might want to give this studio a try. They seem to have a cat boy one so I already know what I’m trying next!
That’s it for now! Go play! (PS. That header pic is also from one of their games)
I’ve been lost in otome land for awhile… I do like it there.
It’s comfy and not too demanding
I must confess I like otome games, too 😀 I got hooked on them after playing Lust in terror manor (its close door gaucha scenarios are truly messed up). It’s by Abracadabra, too I think.
I’ve not really played BL otomes, but the ones you’re playing sound rather good. 🙂
Lust in terror manor is an EPIC name!
Hehe, it actually is an EPIC name 🙂
Its a murder mystery otome game. It can be a bit on the questionable side at times, but is otherwise a good game 🙂
well with Otomes you have to learn selective blindness…
You can try Cybird’s Ikemen Sengoku for mobile if you want something set in the Sengoku period. This one had really great story telling for a mobile game^^ Nvthless, enjoy your BL games… i think i’ve played Princess of the Moon before from Abrcdrba games ^^
Inetersting – thanks for the tip!
I had no idea there were games like this for Apple products! Might have to give one of them a go myself at some point 😏😂
Ohhh don’t forget to tell us about it
I won’t! I’m sure I’ll tweet about it if it happens haha and maybe I could try my hand at blogging about video games 🤔 always good to try something new! 😄
For sure!
“Blotome”… I like it! 😸
I’m pretty easy to please
The art on these is really nice. A lot of mobile games have amazing art… in many ways I feel like it’s a bit of a shame they’re confined to the inherently “disposable” nature of mobile apps.
I agree but my fear that they might replace the more traditional ad in my opinion more interesting Visual Novels seems unfounded. If anything these little guys have been a fairly effective promotional tool for the genre, so far
Agreed. I don’t think traditional VNs are going away any time soon. And if these apps get people more interested in checking out more ambitious standalone titles, so much the better!
I don’t know what I expected going into this post with those tags.
Daily reading limit is an interesting way to translate a VN-esque type of game to the mobile platform. Businesses never cease to impress me with stuff like that.
Consider yourself lucky. I have some very…let’s say “creative” tags. This one was generally honest
Have you checked out the cat BL game on steam? I’ve heard great things about it.
I’m not sure which one it is but I’m definitely looking into it now!!!
I just want you to know I’ve discovered a couple of things. One – I almost always read everything you post whether it is a subject I am interested in or not. Two – and then I learn more interesting things and you tempt me into trying something new… like the four games I am currently downloading.
Foovay, and I sincerely mean this, your comment as always fills me with joy. You are always welcome here.
Have a great play!
What…
There are visual novels you can play on your phone!?
The more you know!
Novels is a big word for these guys
But a lot of Nitro and 5pb games have mobile ports
Hm…
I’m really a slacker sometimes!
Nope. Nothing on steam. Sad panda. Well, I guess google play it is!! Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll probably have to go for Wizardry Enchantment though… I like a little spice in my life. 😉💖
Noice!
Are these just google play and apple store? Or do they happen to be on steam?
I don’t know….I’m bad at this
Ha ha ha!!! Well, I’m about to find out for you!!! 💖💖
